A Federal Police (PF) launched Operation Defense on Wednesday (21), aimed at combating a criminal association that promoted incitement to crimes against the constitutional powers of Brazil through social media and instant messaging apps.

The Federal Justice issued four search and seizure warrants that were executed in Santarém, Pará, targeting businessmen and digital influencers.

The investigations began after the obstruction of the BR-163 highway, at KM 10, in the Cipoal Community, in front of the 8th Engineering Construction Battalion (8th BEC). It is worth noting that the blockade was motivated by the dissatisfaction of supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) after his defeat in the elections for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

During the investigation, it was identified that among the protesters, there was a organized group that divided and distributed tasks to finance, execute, and promote ideas that questioned the legitimacy of the electoral result and encouraged the practice of crimes to prevent the president-elect from taking office.

In addition, the group also encouraged the Armed Forces to abolish the Democratic State of Law.
