My Unsettling Village

by Romério Rômulo

My village is more concrete and unbridled
at times, shame overflows
at times, life lacks vitality

Time of more and less
time of less, more
life demands, I surrender
lost in revelry

Time of flight and fear
of hordes and chaos
the fury of my secret
can be less, for more.

Romério Rômulo (poet and writer) was born in Felixlândia, Minas Gerais, and lives in Ouro Preto, where he is a professor of Political Economy at UFOP and one of the founders of the Cultural Institute Carlos Scliar – Rio de Janeiro RJ.
