Eduardo Tagliaferro, former head of the Special Advisory Office for Countering Disinformation at the Supreme Electoral Court, requested a confrontation between his friend responsible for handing over his cell phone to the São Paulo Civil Police and José Luiz Antunes, the officer responsible for seizing the device.

The request was filed on Friday 23rd in the inquiry opened by Minister Alexandre de Moraes to investigate the leak of messages exchanged between his assistant judge Airton Vieira and Tagliaferro.

In 2023, Tagliaferro’s cell phone was seized after his detention in a domestic violence case. The device remained under the control of the Franco da Rocha Police Station in the Greater São Paulo area from May 9th to 15th. After those six days, Tagliaferro recovered his phone.

In a letter on Friday, Tagliaferro’s defense team stated that they had learned that the Federal Police would summon Antunes to provide explanations. In light of this, the lawyers suggested a confrontation with Celso de Oliveira, who handed over the phone in 2023.

The PF requested Tagliaferro’s voluntary delivery of his cell phone for technical examination, but he refused, during his testimony on the message leak this week. The agency then requested the seizure of the device, received the approval of the Attorney General’s Office, and was granted by Moraes.
